3.1 Task 3 Comparison.

Similarities
Neville Brody
Colour:
Most of the colour Frank uses is Black, White and Red. This gives the images a different style and makes them interesting. The image seems less confusing because of the small colour range.

Main images: 
His main images cover a large amount of the space. His main images are normally black and white and are drawn in a comic style. The main image is normally with speech bubbles or effects to show what’s happening in the scene.

Spacing:
The spacing in his images makes the main image easy to see and the text easy to read. The space around the image isn’t crowded which makes the main image stand out more.

Influences: 
Frank was influenced by noir writers Mickey Spillane, Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. The pacing was very influenced by the Lone Wolf & Cub manga by Goseki Kojima & Kazuo Koike.










Both of these artist have Typography in there work but Frank Millers art is made to go with text but Neville Brody makes his images from text.
Colour:
The colours used by this artist are bright, bold and easy to see. This also makes the image standout more drawing your eyes to the image. A lot of the colours are used to stop text from merging into the image there with.

Main images: 
Neville’s images are mainly made from typography and some images. A lot of images in this style are advertising a brand using text. The main image covers most of the space and sometimes the image and text will overlap.

Spacing: 
Sometimes the space is even and spread out and sometimes the image is over lapping with text. This spacing makes the image felling change and makes it more interesting.

Influences: 
Neville was influenced by new technology like computers with new software allowing a different style of art to be made.




Layout:
This artists work mostly composes of a large image and sometimes text beside the image. There is never text by its self and when there is it never dominates the image.

 Composition: 
The composition of his images are well spaced with easy to see images and text. The images and text is easy to see because of the way he uses the colors and how he places them.

Typography: 
Frank uses typography is his work to tell a story like in comic books. He also uses typography in his images for title and names. 

Technique:
Franks technique is to hand draw his art work using ink, pens and brushes. He draws first in pencil to get is ruff image then clean its up when applying ink over the image.

Layout:
This artist’s work normally has text covering most of the image. There is sometimes an image with the text but the text is normally the main point of the image. Sometimes the layout makes it so text is over lapping with other text or over lapping an image.

Composition: 
The composition this artist uses has a lot of bright and bold text. The spacing changes because in some images there’s over lapping and in others there isn’t. The background is an empty flat colour that makes the image less confusing and makes the main image easier to see.

Typography: 
Most of the images have text in them and some of them have the main image made from text. The text is normally advertising a brand. The text has bright and bold colours on it which makes it standout and easy to read. The text some times over laps with other text making the image more confusing but it is still readable.

Technique:
Neville started using this style when Apple computers came out because of there image creating/editing software allowing him to do new and different things.
