Frank Miller

Frank Miller

Frank Miller was born in 1957 27th January in Olney, Maryland and raised in Montpelier, Vermont.

Frank uses typography is his work to tell a story like in comic books. He also uses typography in his images for title and names.

His main images cover a large amount of the space. His main images are normally black and white and are drawn in a comic style. The main image is normally with speech bubbles or effects to show what’s happening in the scene.

Most of the colour Frank uses is Black, White and Red. This gives the images a different style and makes them interesting. The image seems less confusing because of the small colour range.

The spacing in his images makes the main image easy to see and the text easy to read. The space around the image isn’t crowded which makes the main image stand out more.

The composition of his images are well spaced with easy to see images and text. The images and text is easy to see because of the way he uses the colors and how he places them.

Frank was influenced by noir writers Mickey Spillane, Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. The pacing was very influenced by the Lone Wolf & Cub manga by Goseki Kojima & Kazuo Koike.

His main element of design is his small colour range and the style he uses. The colour and style gives he image a different, unique feel.
